What We Can Do (Services)Cedar Grove Design was created to help businesses like yours through some or all stages of your website's creation and ongoing development. We create high-end, dynamic websites with custom (CMS) Content Management Systems (also called a "Backend") that enable you/your staff to easily update your web site with little to no html experience or programming know-how necessary. If your area of expertise is construction or sales, for instance, do you really need to also take a course in web site and graphic design? Of course not. However, most types of businesses and non-profits will benefit from some level of internet presence. Although we're a small team, there is very little out there on the web that we cannot design and build for your web site whether you're a freelance carpenter or you represent a large institution. You name it, if you'll show us some examples of what you like and/or what you want your website to do, we'll provide you with an estimated developmental timeframe and cost. .: Domains & Website Hosting :.Two things you will need to get your web site online is an (IPP) Internet Presence Provider (i.e. a hosting account) and a registered domain name (example: www.yoursite.com). Determining what your needs are for domain and hosting is step #1 and will help us to prepare your project estimate. If we've left your unique situation out of the list below, feel free to contact us or call us directly (865) 828-4024 to discuss your project's needs. A note about value pricing — Finding the absolute cheapest provider on the web is fine if you know what you're doing and want to do all or part of it yourself. At Cedar Grove Design, we've worked with people with all levels of expertise and we adjust our involvement more or less to what the project requires. But if you want our advice based on our years of experience...although like anyone, we want the best price, we've discovered the hard way that what may be the most advertised, most widely used, or the cheapest doesn't necessarily equate to the simplest option. An incompatible host may add delays and hidden costs to your bottom line. Look for great performance, rock-solid stability, and software compatibility in an IPP, in addition to the lowest price. You may be one of three types of clients inquiring about domain & web site hosting:1. You want us to set everything up and handle the details — The easiest route for both of us is for us to handle everything. We can set up your domains or execute their transfer if necessary. Your philosophy is DIY/you want to do it yourself — Be advised that our software uses a framework that has a couple of specific hosting account requirements. Contact us for details. You already have a hosting account — If you'd like us to work with your existing hosting account, we'll need details about the host up front in order for us to provide an accurate estimate. There are many hosting plans out there and not all will work with well our code. Even the cheapest host on the web won't save you money in the long run if there's a software conflict that entails extra work. Some hosting plans are simply incompatible with our programs. Others may be able to accommodate it if we rewrite portions of the code. Bottom line, if it takes longer, in the end it costs more. If, as it turns out, your site is hosted on an account that conflicts with our software, we'll work with you to transfer your domain to a compatible account. .: Programming & Development Skills Available :.Given enough prep time and the proper finances, programmer/analyst, Lewis Sellers is able to work in any technology that may be required. In addition to working with Cedar Grove Design, Lewis has shared some free software via his web site (Intrafoundation.com). He may be available for hire for subcontracted programming work.
